Step 1 – Setup Required Repository
First of all, You need to add the required yum repositories on your system. You can add repositories using the following commands as per your operating system.
For Fedora 27/26/25/24
dnf install https://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm
For CentOS/RHEL 7
rpm -Uvh http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/7/x86_64/Packages/e/epel-release-7-11.noarch.rpm rpm -Uvh http://li.nux.ro/download/nux/dextop/el7/x86_64/nux-dextop-release-0-5.el7.nux.noarch.rpm
For CentOS/RHEL 6
rpm -Uvh http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/6/x86_64/epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm rpm -Uvh http://li.nux.ro/download/nux/dextop/el6/x86_64/nux-dextop-release-0-2.el6.nux.noarch.rpm
Step 2 – Install VLC using Yum
As you have enabled all the required repositories on your system. let’s install VLC media player using the following command on your system with required dependencies.
yum install vlc ## On CentOS/RHEL 7/6 systems dnf install vlc ## On Fedora 26/25/24/23 systems
Step 3 – Enjoy Videos on VLC
It’s time to play your videos on the VLC media player and enjoy it. You can start VLC media player, go to Applications Menu >> Sound & Video >> VLC Media Player or search in the menu bar.
