For installing packages on debian based system we use
Install debian file with dpkg
To install a Google chrome from a deabian package file (google-chrome-stable_current_i386.deb) use -i command line switch.
sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-stable_current_i386.deb
In case if we need to remove any package use -r command line switch with the package name.
sudo dpkg -r google-chrome-stable_current_i386.deb
Install debian file with apt
You can also install a locally downloaded Debian package with apt command. This will also download and install required dependency for the package from remote repositories.
sudo apt install -f google-chrome-stable_current_i386.deb
